Race day is almost here!! I will be picking up the running T-shirts and race number bibs this week to pass out during the day on Tuesday (February 19). If I cannot distribute the shirt during the school day, then I will pass the rest out at Runners’ Club. Please make sure your child is there to receive your items. ALSO – a trophy is given out for the Team with the Largest Amount of Finishers! We received a third place award last year and could have a repeat if everyone shows up on race day, so NO sleeping in!!
The COWTOWN Kids 5K (3.1 miles) run takes place on Saturday, February 23, 2019, at 9:30 a.m. See map for course directions. Cowtown 5K Map
. Attached below is the event parking map. 2019 Parking Map
Please make sure to look at the map prior to the event.
There are 3 races occurring on February 23 (10K, Adult 5K and Kids 5K). We are running the Kids 5K race which starts at 9:30 a.m. We will have a HPA booth in the cattle barns which is where we will be meeting for a group picture prior to the race PROMPTLY at 9:00 a.m. after which we can start making our way to the start line. Parking can be unpredictable so please plan your arrival time accordingly.
I am looking for a parent volunteer or two to help set up the HPA booth with me at the cattle barn on Friday, February 22, after school. It should not take long. Does anyone have red and blue pennant flags which can be added to the booth? I will also need parent volunteers who are not running to help pass out snacks at the booth, or take photos at the finish line.
Watch the weather to make sure you are dressed appropriately. Weather conditions, as of now, call for cool temperatures with a chance of a rain shower. But we are two weeks out and live in Texas, so the weather is probably going to change. There will be one water stop at approximately the 1.5 mile mark along the 5K route.
At the finish line, 5K runners will receive a medal plus the pride and satisfaction of having achieved this goal! After the race, please feel free to stay for refreshments or to cheer on those still running. I have seen the medals and they are beautiful metal medals!!
It would be wonderful if we could have another great showing of support for High Point Academy at The COWTOWN 2019! If you have questions, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
or with the Remind App. Thanks again for letting your kids join the fun of running!!
After this race, the Runners’ Club will be over for the 2019 school year but will resume at the beginning of the next school year in September.
