Drop Off and Pick Up Updates

I just wanted to pass on some updates for our pick up and drop off lines. Thank you for being patient as we refine our processes. We have cut our time significantly and are almost at the speed we were at last year – good job everyone!

Morning Drop Off – Front Building
This drop off location is for students in Kindergarten – 4th grades, plus older siblings of these grades. If you need to get out of your vehicle to unload or unbuckle your child, please park and walk your student to the crosswalk. Drop-off begins at 7:30 unless students are in tutoring sessions or athletic practice. No children are to be left unattended on the parking lot side of the crosswalk.

Morning Drop Off – Rear Building
This drop off location is for students in 5th – 12th grades. The drop off lane closes at 8:00 a.m. sharp, so if you are running late you will need to drop off in the front of the main building.

Everyone is doing a wonderful job with tardies! We are able to start our assemblies on time and get students to their classes on time. Thank you!

Afternoon Pickup – Front Building
This location is for students Kinder – 6th grade, plus older siblings of these grades.

Our overall time for dismissal is decreasing dramatically since the first day. Our best ending time last week was 4:27. Our goal for finishing dismissal is 4:15. Yesterday we finished at 4:20! I will be collecting data from you this week to check our “curb to kid” time. This measures how long it takes a parent to enter the car line once it has started moving to the time the parent drives off with their child. We ended the year last year with times from 14 to 20 minutes.

When you leave the final loading zone, please make sure you continue to abide by our cell phone free zone. Also, if you need to buckle your child, you can pull beyond the load zone and park to the right of the exit drive to do this.

If you need to park on the grass in front of the school you may, however, please do not park near the curb or on the service road itself as this poses a hazard for those exiting from the drive.

Also, if you are parked in the parking lot, please yield to the cars coming from the loading zone in front of the school. This helps us load the next group more quickly.

For walk ups, please wait in the grassy area to give your dismissal card to one of our staff members. This will be safer (and cooler) than the asphalt parking lot.

Afternoon Pickup – Rear Building
This location is only for students in 7th – 12th grades. You may have noticed some changes the last few days. We are attempting to double stack cars so that we can fit more cars in the rear dismissal. It is a struggle for us because we cannot have any cars on Las Vegas Trail as this causes a significant traffic issue.
