Parents and Guardians:
This afternoon just before dismissal, the Fort Worth Police Department’s helicopter began circling near our school. I instantly put an administrator on the back side of the school to watch for other police activity. High Point has a good working relationship with the White Settlement Police Department, and we had not been contacted by them about any concerns. We did, however, receive a tip from a parent that a police chase had ended behind the school on Heron Drive. At this point, we established a perimeter of staff to make sure students got to their dismissal areas as our end of the day preparations had already begun. Students who were at the church were kept at the church and then later escorted to the main building for dismissal. As I was about to implement a high-security dismissal (locked doors and no students waiting outside) the White Settlement Police Department advised me that everything was clear and there was no imminent concern. All this happened within a few minutes, but I want you to know that we stood ready to protect your children. I am pleased our local law enforcement works so well with us and that I have such a great staff who is ready to spring into action!
Back the Blue
Speaking of law enforcement, our Back the Blue event is Monday the 21st. If you have a friend or family member in law enforcement, please let them know that they are more than welcome to stop by!
As always, check our calendar at https://www.hpafortworth.com/school-info/calendar/ for upcoming events. I hope you can join us Saturday for PTO’s HPA Rocks and the elementary theater production.
